What is your role?

I am a Lecturer in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In my research, teaching, and life, I am always seeking inspiring examples of humans engaging with each other, other species, and the material world in a way that helps build out more just, creative, and flourishing worlds.

What you hope this prize can achieve?

I hope this prize will help students, practitioners, policy makers, teachers, activists, and others imagine other possible worlds and construct a community where we can support each other as we strategize how to compose these worlds. 

 

Who is your role model?  What is inspiring you right now?

One of my role models is adrienne maree brown.  I am inspired by her radical centering of pleasure and joy and her own ability to draw inspiration from more-than-human beings and relations, including beings and becomings from sci-fi and other imagined worlds.
